Leah Crowley is currently a digital reporter and content producer at 12 News. She loves that her role allows her to produce, shoot, edit and write stories, while also creating fun social media content.
Leah joined the 12 News team as a digital intern in fall 2021 and started working as a producer in December 2021. Leah produced the weekend evening newscasts for a year before joining the digital team once again in her current role.
A proud University of Rhode Island alum, Leah graduated summa cum laude with degrees in journalism and political science. Leah created video blogs for the Harrington School of Communications and Media for prospective students and worked as a brand ambassador for the college as well. For two years, she served as newscast editor for the school’s student-run publication, The Good Five Cent Cigar.
Leah was one of two students in the country to be awarded the Radio and Television Digital News Association Presidential Scholarship in 2020. She was also awarded the Peter Lord Environmental Journalism Scholarship.
Journalism runs in Leah’s blood. Her parents met in Providence while working in local news. Leah still asks for their feedback after every story she produces.
A lifelong Massachusetts resident, Leah loves spending time in Boston, but will always choose Rhode Island beaches over Bay State ones.
Leah volunteers at the North Attleboro animal shelter, so if you follow her on social media, you will be subjected to posts about adoptable animals. While all the animals at the shelter are undeniably cute, Leah’s dogs Smudge and Twiggy are the cutest.
